Star Struck In North Norfolk

Celebrity spotters in Norfolk shouldn't be disappointed

, as famous faces are often seen in Norfolk restaurants and Norfolk Boutique Hotels. This area of the country is truly beautiful and offers some quiet respite from the hustle and bustle of London, despite being just a couple of hours away by train or car. Consequently, all sorts of celebrities are often spotted in North Norfolk hotels, from the likes of Amanda Holden and her ex-husband Les Dennis to members of the Royal Family who are frequently at Sandringham in the west of the county.Norfolk is home to some lovely, open countryside and beautiful beaches and it's also a haven for foodies, thanks to its rich, local source of fresh produce, and its glut of gastro-pubs. Indeed, Norfolk Pubs and hotels are frequently cited in the national papers as places well worth a visit and the stretch of coastline from Hunstanton to Cromer includes two Michelin-starred establishments. A number of well-known people have also got homes in the area, including former Prime Minister John Major and movie star John Hurt.Singers David Gray and James Blunt are also keen on this part of the world (David Gray had a home in Stiffkey on the North Norfolk coast, while James Blunt's family used to own the lighthouse in Cley). And then there's Grumpy Old Man Rick Wakeman who lives in the south of Norfolk, together with popular author Bill Bryson who these days also campaigns actively against litter and for improving the British countryside. Author Louis de Bernieres is also often spotted in Norfolk, although he resides in Suffolk, and actor Roger Lloyd Pack and his wife live in the north of the county.Most famously, Gwyneth Paltrow walked along Holkham Beach for one of her many movies, while Keira Knightley has also been to Holkham where she starred in a period drama. Charles and Camilla are also often seen in the area (Camilla has been spotted shopping in Bakers and Larners in Holt) while Maggie Smith's son was also recently seen in the town. So if you fancy mingling with the stars, make your way to Norfolk where they seem to be out and about in droves!
