Star Wars: The Old Republic Operative
"Star Wars: The Old Republic" is an online role-playing game featuring a wide variety
of classes and specializations that allows players to play the game implementing all types of strategy into the gameplay. One of these classes is the "Imperial Agent." The qualities of this class are "stealth" and "secretive" which operates on sabotage and surprise attacks to destroy the Jedi's. One of the most notable specializations of this class is the Operative.
The
SWTOR Operative specialization has two different talent trees upon which you can choose. The first talent tree is "Concealment." This tree focuses on close range weapons, for example: swords and daggers. Players using this specialization will have to become experts using skills such as Stealth. Operatives are required to blend into the background and locate suitable concealment spots. Remaining still is key as you simply will not have the strength or fighting ability against the other classes. By using stealth mode Operatives are able to sneak up from behind and execute the attack. Lethality allows the player to gain access to poisons and other dirty tricks.
The second branch is the "Medic" branch. Focusing on this branch will gain access to a wide variety of healing potions and spells. The Operative will still maintain stealth abilities and access to snares and traps. Although they will not have the attack power of the "Concealment" branch, but they are an important part of any guild or attack force.
As mentioned above, there are many
SWTOR specializations that an Star Wars The Old Republic Operative class possess. However, the class' disadvantages must be understood to fully execute the Operative's full potential within the game. The Operative class may be a difficult class when players decide to go solo. It is entirely possible to play the game as an Operative; sneaking through the world and defeating enemies in a stealth-like manner. However, the challenge levels are extremely high. Stronger players will be able to defeat you in a long ranged or in toe-to-toe combat. You simply will not have access to the strongest weapons and attacks with this character. This is especially true of the "Medic" branch.
Another disadvantage is: you cannot become a sniper. The sniper is the second specialization in the Imperial Agent class. This specialization, however, does obtain abilities that is very sniper-like but it is one of the less powerful concealment methods (I was not sure what they were trying to say here...). However, Operatives gain access to long range weapons thus keeping them at distance away from attackers. Lastly it will be noted that Operatives, along with with long range weapons can devastate large groups of enemies if executed properly.
A great player can overcome these noted disadvantages through patience. So, if you enjoy playing stealth mode, why not try out the Operative"specialization?
