Starcraft 2 Noob Guide - Secrets Many Players Won't Tell You
Losing game after game in Starcraft 2 is not very fun.
I've worked with several Starcraft 2 noobs and I think starting out they suffered from information overload. They tried to imitate every strategy they have ever seen or try and do cheesy strategies for quick wins. I think if you are a noob in Starcraft 2 you need to take a step back, and start from scratch. Start by learning every units name. This is very important starting out, if you can't recognize every unit and what it can do you will not get very far. Once you understand what every unit strengths and weakness is you can start building a basic strategy.
Now that you know what each unit is capable of you need to start scouting your opponent so you know what they are building and what you should be building in response. Scouting is one of the most crucial game mechanics for you to master. A lot of new players like to ignore scouting their opponent and just build a bunch of units and send them in. This is not a good tactic. Get comfortable with it now while you are new. Scout your opponent, learn what units he is building, build units that kill those units easily.
Once you have started getting a handle on scouting you want to start to understand the abilities of your race. For example, if you are a Protoss player you need to learn when the best time to cast Chrono Boost is. As Terran, learn the best time to call down MULES. As Zerg, learn how to best manage your Queens energy to Spawn Larva and Creep Tumors.
These are just some basic starting strategies that every noob player can benefit from. Master these and you will be on your way to success in Starcraft 2.
