Starcraft 2 - Protoss Rushing Guide

The first thing you need to do, if the Terran has not walled off

, is to very carefully scout your enemy's location using a probe. You would normally use the same one that is responsible for building your very first Pylon. It is important to do this before the enemy has a chance to wall off because if you don't, there may be little chance of infiltrating their base.

Once you have mastered the location of your enemy, you should look to construct a proxy very close to the enemy's choke. Remember a "choke" is an area of land that narrows, forcing them to group together as opposed to fanning out their troops. You need to set this gateway up close enough to be a concern, but far enough away that it cannot be hit by their siege tanks. This proxy should ultimately be a Pylon having two gateways. There is no point at all in building cannons on a forge as this will slow you down, and they will not be effective against the Terran tanks. Another thing to bear in mind is to make sure that the Terran scout has difficulty spotting or locating your proxy. Keep it out of the normal scouting path.

While you are continuing to construct extra Pylons and Probes within your base, send out zealots from your gateways. If you are lucky enough that the enemy didn't wall in, rush using 3 or 4 zealots. Then if you are able to micro the zealots correctly, there is no reason why you should not be capable of overpowering any early Terran gameplay. In this event ensure that your zealots are rushed past the Terran SCV's and they are heading directly for the marines. Typically when faced with this type of play, the Terran will pull a few SCV's in to act as shields for the marines. Continue to launch your zealots before the Terran has any chance of getting tanks and vultures.

If on the other hand the Terran was able to wall in, rush them with 6 or 8 zealots. This time focus your attacks on the enemy supply depot and simply ignore all marine fire. This will create a panic for the enemy and they will be likely to pull in 5 or so SCV's to start rebuilding the depot. Once the Terran depot falls attempt to forge through the SCV's and marines. You may be able to micro around and wipe out the marines.

If the Terran SCV's are still building their factory, take care of them because. At this point you don't want the enemy to have vultures that can cause severe damage to your zealots. On the other hand, if the Terran has managed to complete a building move your target to the SCV's mining. The whole focus at this point is to do whatever is necessary to slow down or halt your enemy's ability to build an economy. Interrupting the mining operations is going to do that, so killing as many mining SCV's as possible is a good place to start.
