You can begin by deciding where you want to keep or display your key chains. The best collections need to be displayed and not hidden and it is up to you to be creative and think of a way to do this.

The great thing about key chains is that it is fun to arrange them. Almost all of them have key rings or loops which you can tack to a corkboard. This is one way to display your key chains without damaging them. Another way to display them is to suspend them along a long stick, so that they hang naturally instead of being tacked to a wall. Some limited edition or vintage key chains may even be framed while others prefer to keep them the natural way by holding multiple key chains with one ring.

From here you can then begin your search for the best key chain pieces. You can collect by brand or model. A car key chain can be designed based on an automobile brand, text or an actual replica of a real-life car. You can collect full varieties of a single brand, or a specific car model as it is remade throughout the decades.

Apart from being fun to collect, auto key chains can actually be an investment for many. Most key chains are very affordable, but can come to be valued at a very high price later on. This is especially true for vintage key chains of old car models no longer in production today.

As a collector, there are many avenues that you can participate in to interact with other hobbyists. Many websites are dedicated to international key chain clubs where you can discuss your hobby with other enthusiasts.
