You may be thinking, there is no point in starting your own school, because everybody can just go to the one you attended. This is not necessarily true. People are not usually willing to drive very far for these lessons. If you can find a spot that is populated and more than thirty minutes away from any other school that teaches your skill, you have an ideal location.

You do not have to build your own building for these lessons. You can hire contractors to make a place just for you to teach, but that would cost a lot. A better way to start would be to check with local churches. A lot of medium and large churches have big gyms that would be ideal for lessons and members of this church would likely be your first customers. The church may want a share in the profits, or you can pay them a monthly fee. If you can include a Bible message in each lesson, they might let you use it for free as part of their ministry. It is important to make sure your fitness insurance covers any damage that might happen to the church. The leaders may not let you teach there, if they believe it will make their own insurance rates go up.

Once you have a place, you still have a lot to do. It is advisable to register your business with the federal and local government. This is mostly just paperwork, but if you need help, you can consult a lawyer. Your customers can purchase their own uniforms, but you may need to provide mats and/or any other needed equipment. A price needs to be fair to you and customers. This can be determined by your continuing expenses and how many people you think you will have. The job could easily pay you fifty dollars, just for an hour and half of teaching, even if you just have ten people in each class, and profit five dollars a person.

Sometimes teaching involves touching. Even if you do your best to keep it all innocent, there is a chance of somebody claiming you have touched him or her inappropriately.
