Statins And Atherosclerosis Do Not Go Together

I recently read the book Lipitor, thief of memory and was astounded by the story

of a NASA employee who completely lost his memory after taking Lipitor for 3 weeks. And its not just that, muscle pain, tiredness, bloating, constipation, insomnia, weight gain are only the very basic side effects of Lipitor and most statins really. What kind of quality of life is left when you suffer from all these side effects? This is supposed to help, extend life, and reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke.

And then the biggest slap came. In fact it offers no protection at all... I managed to find many publications which proved that the risk for heart attack is insignificantly lowered for people who take them. The worst is that according to hospital data, elevated cholesterol is not associated with heart attacks or arteriosclerosis. Then why do I have to take Lipitor, suffer all the side effects, lower my quality of life so much and still be in danger?

Finally I found it. The last piece of the puzzle. Late 60s, a Harvard medical researcher proved that atherosclerosis is not caused by elevated LDL. This is just a secondary effect. The real problem is an amino acid called homocysteine. It causes a reaction in the liver, modifies LDL which then becomes toxic for cells in the arteries. This modified LDL is highly toxic and can cause severe damage in the artery cells. This is the beginning of arteriosclerosis. This is something Everyone should know about? Luckily homocysteine is easy to lower and this change only can reverse atherosclerosis and lower LDL levels too. Vitamins B6, B12 and folic acid is the only thing you need. Thats all. Do you have any idea why we have no clue about this? There is no way to patent vitamins and sell them exclusively (as it happens with synthetic drugs) and this is the problem for pharmaceutical companies! Statins, as any other drug developed by a pharmaceutical company, are patented and only the producing company has the rights to sell it and of course keep 100% of the profits!

This is such a beautiful story, isnt it? We could just take simple, over the counter vitamins but instead doctors prescribe super toxic drugs that destroy multiple organs in our body. There comes a moment when logic is lost and what really matters is profit, profit, profit. This moment has come for all of us and we better do something now. The web is full of forums with people exchanging opinions about how much they suffer by the side effects of Lipitor or other statins. Let the truth come out!
