Also not to be missed are the famous Bassenthwaite Ospreys, the first ospreys to breed in England for many years. They have raised many a brood of chicks and can be seen through telescopes set up at the osprey viewing site on the far side of Bassenthwaite Lake, which incidentally is the only body of water called a lake in the Lake District!
