Staying Safe In December

It does not matter how much people will wish for a white Christmas

, the united kingdom rarely sees a December with snow fall, and it was two years ago now in which we got our last white winter. Christmas day 2010 had snow fall all over the United Kingdom, surprising and pleasing people from Lands End to John O'groats. However, a small snow fall from a few years ago was apparently enough to put peoples expectations and hopes up. As each year people wish for a white Christmas, and more people are disappointed with no results.

For December 2012, it looks to be a very rainy month at the start, with many days being very cloudy, potentially raining for the majority of the month. Temperatures are looking to be above freezing, and chances of snow are low for now. However, a change in climate could mean potential snow for Christmas. It is all a matter of keeping an eye on how November pans out; if weather drops, we could see a lot more of a chance for snow in December than we are looking at right now. Coming up to December, weather people are keeping a very close eye on things, in order to keep predicted weather as accurate as can be.

With weather being as unpredictable as it has been lately, it is very important for everyone in the United Kingdom to be prepared for any type of weather which could potentially hit. Average temperature for December for now is set to be between highs of 7 degrees, and lows of 3. Whilst people will find 3 degrees, or even 7 degrees, incredibly cold, neither of these temperatures are enough to warrant snow fall. For these temperatures, some hail may be predicted, yet with no freezing temperatures set to be anywhere in December, it is looking less and less likely for 2012 December to set the way for yet another white Christmas, or even any snow within December.

Although everyone will be doing their Christmas shopping, getting in Christmas food, and stocking up on tinned goods, it is wise to stock up on a wide variety of tinned foods and foods which can be frozen or kept for an incredibly long time. It is unlikely for a freak snow storm to hit anywhere within the United Kingdom, especially toward the Midlands, and yet it is not impossible. Therefore, it is important for everyone involved to be as well prepared as they can, stocking up on food is a good idea.
