Staying optimistic during tough economic time

Someone asked this question today and I thought it was an interesting question worth commenting on. They wanted to know, as a business owner, how you can stay optimistic during tough economic times.

This is question that many business owners are facing everyday. Trying to keep themselves and their staff motivated during a tough time. Firstly understand this, circumstances will always change. What you are going through today is TEMPORARY.

My Dad used to have a sign on his desk that said "There is always a better way". Whenever I visited his office I would read that sign and start to think of ways I could implement that in my life. Times have changed, we have experienced the greatest economic upheaval in our generation. Now, more than ever, we need to tell ourselves that there is always a better way. We all want to enjoy the benefits of success, yet to be successful in this economy means you have to react FAST to changes

The smart business owner will make informed and sometimes tough decisions to cut costs and work hard at fitting their budget into their current income before trying to increase their income to cover their budget. By doing this you are able to grow from a solid foundation, rather than struggling and feeling the stress of this struggle every day only to watch your business go backwards even further which then becomes more than just a financial problem, it is a demoralizing problem!

Staying optimistic in tough economic times is far more than just making a decision. It takes revisiting your short term goals and adjusting your forecasts to be realistic given your economic situation.

We gain much self actualization through achievement. By creating goals you can actually reach gives you the mental boost you need to be able to reach for the ones that may currently look like they are outside your grasp.

Today more than ever you need to be setting smaller goals as well as having the bigger goals and dreams that will keep you motivated and reaching for more.

By adjusting your sights, getting your feet back on solid ground, you can start to grow and become stronger regardless of the economic state.
