Step-by-step Repair Of Windows 7 System Files

Nowadays its very common that after so much use of computers Windows can lose system files or they can be corrupted accidentally

Today, operating systems are too smart as they offer built-in utility called System File checker tool (SFC.exe). You will be glad to know that Windows 7 has also got this utility, which not only scans for missing or corrupted system files but it also allows you to repair those files. With the help of System File Checker tool, you can find out which file is causing the problem, and then repair the file.

Follow the given instructions to start System File Checker (SFC.exe).

1. Start an elevated command prompt, run as an administrator. For this, click Start, navigate to All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

2. Now type this command sfc /scannow and hit enter. The System File Checker will start checking the system.

Note: This process might take some time as it has to scan & repair all the corrupted files, so have some patience.

3. Once Windows done with the scanning process, it will immediately display the report to inform whether there are any issues with the system files.

The sfc /scannow utility can scans all protected system files and repair damage files. In case the tool is not able to repair the damaged file, it is better to restore the system to a previous state using System restore.
