There are many different types of shampoos for your lovely cat
. Such as anti-hairball, waterless, hypoallergenic and flea/tick shampoos.
Cats are well known for being low-maintenance pets. They typically clean themselves on a day to day basis. However there are moments where we, the owners need to step in and give our pet an all around good bath. Whether it is because the cat has fleas and ticks, a skin condition or just plain dirty; as pet owners we need to know how to properly clean our cats and choose the correct shampoo when bathing our feline friends.
Step One: Have everything displayed and ready. Cat shampoo, brush, comb, decent size towel and some sort of bowl to rinse your pet if a handheld showerhead is unavailable. Before starting the bathing process comb your cat's hair.
Step Two: Make sure the water is at a comfortable temperature. A comfortable temperature is one that is tolerable. Remember, most cats do not like water so be sure to wear clothes that you do not mind getting semi soaked.
Step Three: Now that your cat is in the bath tub you may start off by wetting your pet from the neck down to the tail. Make sure your cat is wet down to the skin before applying the shampoo. The same way you applied the water is how the shampoo should be applied. Lather the shampoo and completely rinse. Be sure to follow the directions on the bottle. Some shampoos need to be left on the cat for several minutes before rinsing. It is extremely important to completely rinse the shampoo off your pet. Reason for this is left over shampoo can irritate the skin. Your cat can lick the left over shampoo when cleaning itself which can be harmful to your pet.
Step Four: Dry your cat. Pat down your pet by carefully squeezing the excess water out of its fur. Use a towel to finish drying your cat. Comb your feline friend after the bath. If your pet in uncomfortable being brushed wait until he/she is dry and then try to brush your pet once more.
