One: Plunger - Try using a plunger first to unclog the drain. This will usually take care of most drains that occur in your home but if it doesn't then continue to follow the other steps for unclogging the drain.
You may have to try the plunger more than once before it will work effectively. Be sure that you are pushing the plunger down gently and covering it completely. Then you want to come up quickly because this will create a forceful suction.
Two: Commercial cleaners or liquid cleaners - If the plunger didn't unclog the drain then you can try using commercial cleaners or liquid cleaners. Just don't mix cleaners because this can create other problems.
Also be sure to use any cleaners in an area that is well ventilated and use them carefully so they don't harm your eyes or skin. Clear away the cleaner you used if it unclogs the drain using hot water.
Three: P-trap - The P trap is the curved pipe that is under the sink. You want to use a wrench to open it so you can clean out any blockage that may be there.
This will clear away most clogs but not always. Once you have cleaned the debris out of it then you want to run some water to find out if you have cleared the clog.
Four: Drain snake - You can easily find a drain snake at your local hardware store to help unclog drain in your home. Just push it into the drain and clear away as much blockage as you can. You want to twist it to help clear the blockage.
