No matter how long you have been married, adjusting to living alone takes time, and when you are really struggling with the divorce it is wise to surround yourself with family and friends.
When you get use to living with someone, living alone can bring loneliness quickly. Keep yourself busy by taking a cooking class, or do something that you have wanted to do for awhile. Take a look at your bills, and what you make versus your bills and what you made combined with your spouse. When spouses become a source of financial stability in someone's life this can make the transition very difficult, and means that you may need extra income.
You might find yourself transitioning back to the time when you first moved out of your parent's house and went out on your own to college. You might need to work a second job for awhile to pay down some debt, or perhaps you need a better paying job. When those who are homemakers end up going through a divorce, they experience a lot of stress after years of being out of the workforce.
Going back to work could also mean updating your resume, redefining your wardrobe a bit, or maybe even selling some valuables until work comes your way. Whatever the case may be, it is never easy but these are all steps that many new divorcees must take in order to stand on their own two feet and make a life for themselves without having to rely on someone else.

Counseling enables those who are suffering to speak freely without being judged, and to get out everything that is bothering them.
