Apply the chosen treatment onto the hair and scalp. Massage it through the hair and scalp thoroughly.
Cover the hair with a plastic shower cap and leave the solution on the hair overnight.
When you wake up in the morning, wash off the solution using an ordinary shampoo. Blow dry the hair.
Use a hair brush to vigorously brush through the hair at least 2 to 3 times a day to knock off the remaining lice and nits.
If there are any nits left, remove them using your hands.
The following home remedies can be very helpful if you want to rid lice safely. This may include the following:
Apply coconut oil to the hair and scalp.
Rub Vaseline onto the scalp and hair to suffocate the lice.
Rub mayonnaise onto the scalp and hair.
Mix 3 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of eucalyptus oil and 1 teaspoon of tea tree oil with a regular shampoo. Apply this onto the hair and leave it for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour before washing it off.
Mix 20 drops of tea tree oil, 20 drops of eucalyptus oil, 10 drops of lemon oil, 10 drops of aniseed oil and 75ml olive oil. Massage it all through the hair and leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing.
Mix 10 drops of eucalyptus oil, 5 drops of citrus oil, 10 drops of geranium oil, 20 drops of rosemary oil, 20 drops of lavender oil, 5 drops of tea tree oil and 100ml vegetable oil. Apply this mixture onto the scalp and hair. Cover it with a plastic shower cap and leave it for 2 to 3 hours before rinsing.
Try this all natural oil shampoo. Mix olive oil, coconut oil, sweet almond oil and some tea tree oil. Leave it on the hair and scalp for an hour, rinse with water and blow dry. Then, use a regular shampoo to rinse.
Mix baby oil and vinegar. Apply it to the scalp and hair from roots to tips. Cover the hair with a shower cap for an hour before washing it with regular shampoo.
Mix a regular shampoo with 10 to 15 drops of tea tree oil and use on a regular basis.
Apply shaving cream to the scalp and hair to form a thick, foamy coating. Leaving this on for 30 minutes can help kill lice and nits.
