What makes a driver on the UKs roads slow down without fail? The answer is speed cameras. The glimpse of a bright yellow box is a sure sign that we will get a ticket, and we all adjust our speed accordingly. So it's a good way to get noticed, as Jennie Jones has found out. In Leicestershire, a disgruntled home owner has adopted a simi.lar tack, and painted a cornflake box yellow, attaching it to a telegraph pole, as drivers repeatedly ignore the thirty mile and hour limit as they speed past his house in Melton Mowbray. One driver said " i thought it was the real thing, any anyone coming round the corner will catch it out of the corner of their eye.

A member of the council has said that although they recommend that people do not break the speed limit, they don't encourage people to take matters in their own hands and make false speed cameras, as it is risky to drivers around the area. Understandably, the resident is upset as he often has his grandchildren round, but the council stress they will look into traffic calming measures in and around Leicestershire.
