Storage Pods Keep Your Belongings Close To You
I guess you could say my family is a bunch of pack rats
. We all hate to get rid of anything we own unless it is destroyed. You never know when you will need it again. We use a couple of storage pods right in our backyard to keep everything handy.
We have five kids. Our house was big enough when it was only three children. When the last two came we did some remodeling. The garage became a room for our oldest and the basement became the hang out and bedroom for our only son. We had no place to put things like the Christmas tree and summer lawn furniture.
We tried to put boxes and such in bedroom closets, but that did not work. We hauled everything to a public storage facility but that did not work either. There were things in the boxes we did use on occasion. The occasions were more common than we had thought.
There were things in storage that would be needed for a day or two. That meant a trip to storage, going through a large number of boxes until you found what you were looking for and trying to make sure everything fit back in when you were done. After making three trips to find all the Christmas lights and decorations one year, we looked into getting storage pods.
When we had two storage pods delivered and dropped off in your backyard, our neighbors took notice. We had many suggestions to use aluminum sheds. Of course, we had already tried that. Some non replaceable items were destroyed when the shed blew apart in the middle of a rainstorm. The sheds just were not big enough and not secure enough for what we needed.
Two storage pods are more than enough for our needs. With two, we can use one for things that we actually do use on a regular basis and the other for things that are just stored for posterity. They're very sturdy and anything shy of a hurricane will not bother them.
The pod setup for posterity is actually divided into sections for each member of the family. When my daughter decided she no longer wanted to play with Barbies, it was easy for her to put them all in a box and put them right near all her other old dolls. When another child was struggling with math, her older brother could easily find his old notebook in his section of the pod. Everyone knows where their section is and does not have to dig through someone else's stuff.
Personally, I think the storage pods are just what we needed. I can put things in them easily and get them out just as easy. It has made inside the house much less cluttered too. I have created one area just for things that take up too much room in the house that are still used regularly. The public storage was always a mess, the pods are neat and orderly.
