Everyone finds they need to store something at some time in their lives

. There are many storage solutions to meet all kinds of storage problems. Storage solutions may be as simple as buying some legal sized boxes and storing your items in a closet or under the bed.

There are companies that specialize in designing storage solutions for your every need. This may mean designing the interior of a closet so you can store your shoes, handbags, suits, dresses, hats and anything else you may want to put in the closet and be able to find it again. There are companies that design solutions for storing dishes, pots and pans and even canned goods in your kitchen cabinets. The purpose of these companies is so you can store more stuff in a small space.

Another type of storage is a storage unit or a self storage unit. These are designed so you can store just about anything you can think of in them. They come in size small to very large. If you only need ten square feet of storage, you can rent ten square feet of storage. You will not have to pay for storage space you dont need. Of course, there are some things that most storage units, self storage or otherwise will not allow. These items may include radioactive materials, live plants or animals; no matter how often you plan to visit them, waste or garbage or illegal items. Toxic materials and polluted material cannot generally be stored in storage units either. If you plan to store food or food items you may have to make special arrangements or they may not be allowed either.

If you plan to utilize a self storage unit or any other type of storage unit or place that is remote from your home, then you will have to consider how you are going to pack your things. You will also have to decide how you are going to get them to the storage unit. If you dont own a car you probably dont want to rely on public transportation so you may have to make arrangements to rent a truck or car or a moving van of some kind.

Some people think they can store everything in their garage or attic. Well, that is possible but you probably should consider some alternative. Those places become virtual black holes. If you ever have to move you will then be faced with cleaning out those spaces where you didnt tread very often. Your best bet is to be ruthless and discard about 90 percent of the stuff you plan to store in the garage or attic before you put it there. Just ask yourself if you will ever use it again? If the answer is yes, then ask yourself when. If it is sometime in the far future then do something else with it. If the answer is very soon, then put in someplace where you can actually see it and use it.
