Sonora idea of celebrating Fathers day gained so popularity in short time that US President Woodrow Wilson approved the festival in 1916. In other US Presidents, President Calvin Coolidge though supported the idea but it was President Lyndon Johnson who signed a Presidential Proclamation declaring the third Sunday of June as Father's Day in 1966. Then in 1972, Father's Day started to be held on the third Sunday of June as President Richard Nixon announced it as national festival.
