Todays market is tough. Considering the cut- throat competition in the market with every business wanting to attract more and more clients or customers, it becomes extremely difficult to make a sale. It seems that every business today wants to increase their profitability without increasing their overhead expenses.

The question now is how do you succeed and become profitable in todays market condition? That is easy through a well planned marketing strategy. However, creating a successful marketing strategy necessitates more than just putting together a persuasive offer. There are important elements that help increase the effectiveness of your marketing campaign.

Strategy # 1. Define your USP. USP refers to your unique selling point. It is important that you define the unique value that your business can bring to your customers. From your expensive ads down to your simple marketing tools such as your business cards or postcards, your unique value has to be presented. It can be through the way your message is packaged, the offers you provide, or the way your product or service can benefit people.

Put simply, if you don't stand out against your competitions, your marketing strategy will be weak and unsuccessful. You will only be wasting your time and money if you dont effectively communicate your unique value to your target market.


Strategy # 2. Create a good message. In order to create a compelling message, you need to know more about your customers. You need to be able to define the various types of customers you have, from their buying habits to their demographics. If you are able to do this, it would be much easier for you to communicate with them and create a focused and powerful message.

All too often, the practice of many businesses is to send the same marketing materials to all their target customers. Remember that not everyone in your mailing list will relate and respond to your message. So, it is important that you dont only know about your target market, but understand about their personas as well. If you are able to do this, the easier it is for you to create a profitable customer group.


Strategy # 3. Build trust. The tendency of many businesses is to make a sale at once. But remember that people dont like to be sold. If you push your product or service at their face, they will only ignore you. So before you head straight to sales, it is important that you build trust first.

One good way to build trust is to give something for free to your prospects. This can be in form of information, knowledge, or expertise. You can also offer free consultation or free service trial in your brochures or business card templates. Keep in mind that one promotion or a visit to your website will not make you a sale. You need to consistently show your prospects that they can trust you. You may have the best product out there or the solution to your customers problems, but if you cant let them trust you, you dont stand a chance in making a sale.

All these three strategies are important to transforming your business and making it profitable at the least cost. Take these pointers seriously, and you are sure to bring your business to reach new heights.
