The street preaching which is also known as open- air - preaching has existed since biblical times. Street preaching can be defined as preaching the word of God to spread the gospel among the people who would have never ever entered the church. Those who reveal Gods word on public streets are called Street Preachers. In order to address a huge gathering they stand on a higher elevation and use an amplifier for their voice to be heard above the noise level of the surroundings. They call the people to repent for their sins and trust in the lord Jesus Christ.

Preachers found in the bible

In the Old Testament, God instructed through Isaiah the prophet," cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and show my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins" (Isaiah 58:1). Jonah, is a popular preacher of Old Testament to whom God said' Arise go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching the preaching that I bid thee". (Jonah 3:2) the scripture says that Jonah raised his voice and the entire city of Nineveh thus repented at the preaching of the word of God. Jesus himself was a preacher and the bible states that Jesus went out "to teach and preach to various cities". As he did so, great multitudes were gathered unto him and he spoke many things unto them. (Mathew: 13:2&3)

Although the street preachers were prosecuted, who even lost their lives for preaching, it continued faithfully throughout, to declare the truth of Gods word. Street Preaching should not be kept within the church limits. If you are saved then it is your duty to spread the Gospel to others for them to be saved. People who do not come to church will not be saved so we must go the lost and preach the Gospel of Kingdom. Romans 19:13-17 "for whosoever shall call upon the name of the lord shall be saved.

As it is written, how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the Gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things. But they have not all obeyed the gospel..so then faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. Street Preaching is considered as a weapon to turn the sinful into righteous. Preaching to the lost makes them to understand Gods word, get rid of their darkness and lead them to Gods Kingdom. street preaching is a God chosen method for the salvation of mankind. Street preachers aim to "seek and save that which was lost" it is the epitome of taking the light to them, thereby eliminating the darkness from them and make them realize that they are the salt of the earth.

Because Jesus exposed the sins of people, many turned away. Jesus explained,' if I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin. But now, they have no cloak for their sin. Be obedient in carrying out the great commandment of the Great Commission.
