Street Safe Security - Tips For Night Shift Workers
It's easy to think of the world as having 9-5 hours
, but for a large number of people, it's necessary to be out and about at night. Night shift doctors and nurses, warehouse and factory workers, and others who work the graveyard shift are just a few examples of those who have to be out for work reasons. Others may be out alone after a night on the town with friends, and have to take the bus or train late at night. If you find yourself out alone at night for any reason, you'll need to think about street safe security, to get home without incident. Although many crimes are committed in broad daylight, the dark of night makes for higher crime rates.
A good rule for street safe security when you are walking late at night is to stay on the curb. Avoid any wooded areas, parks, or other areas where others could hide in the shrubbery, for example. Even if this leads to your walk taking an extra five minutes, it's better than being caught all alone in a deserted area. Criminals can hide in doorways, so it's better to stay close to the street if possible.
It's also a good idea to avoid any areas that are deserted or dark. Stay on a well-lit path that you are familiar with. Some experts recommend scoping out your walk home in advance, and finding areas that you can hide if necessary along the way. If you have this extra level of preparedness, and can be more aware of your surroundings during your journey home, you will have less of a chance of even attracting any sort of criminal element. This street safe security is something that should be taught to all ages, and ingrained from a young age, so that the whole family can stay safe when out at night.
To help supplement these basic safety tips, it's also a good idea to think about how you will defend yourself should you still attract the attention of an attacker. There are a number of security products on the market that can help with this, including pepper spray, stun guns, and other items for personal street safe security. It's a good idea to brush up on self defense techniques every so often as well, to ensure that you are ready for anything that may arise on the walk or ride home each night.
