WORKPLACE STRESS - STATISTICS

WORKPLACE STRESS - STATISTICS

Hello, I am Rod Morgan, founder of The Stress Workshop.com. In the 1990s, I suffered stress, anxiety and depression for five long years and then I discovered some tools that have enabled me to turn my life around.

Now I am back on top, enjoying myself again and doing all the things that I want to.

One of my passions nowadays is helping other people achieve the same, which is overcoming their stress, anxiety and depression so that they can fully enjoy their lives again and do all the things they want to.

Now, a question I am often asked is, Just how damaging is stress in the workplace?

Well, all I can say is that in the 1990s, I was off work with stress, anxiety and depression for a six week period and a ten week period and, as you can imagine, that had a significant impact on my life and the lives of my family, especially given that I was self employed at the time.

And here are some statistics from the Health and Safety Executive about stress, anxiety and depression in the workplace -

It is estimated that work-related stress, depression or anxiety affected 415,000 individuals in a 12 month period during 2008 to 2009

producing a staggering estimated 11.4 MILLION working days lost

This makes stress, depression or anxiety the largest contributor to the estimated number of annual days lost from work related ill health during 2008 to 2009.

A further 19,000 people reported suffering from work related heart disease

and evidence from a 1995 survey suggests that most of those reporting work related heart disease ascribe its cause to work stress.

So, it is vitally important that anyone experiencing stress, or employers who are employing people who are experiencing stress, seek professional help as soon as possible.

If you feel that you are experiencing stress, or you know someone who is, I have produced a FREE SET of VIDEOS showing 7 KEY STEPS to BEATING STRESS, ANXIETY and DEPRESSION and you can receive your free video course simply by visiting our website at -
