Stress Governs
The realization of helplessness to act victoriously; amidst the upsetting awareness
of fleeting situation (life) is common in an aging person as well as a person in the prime of his/her youth or childhood! This is stress! This is exaggerated by every input from the environment, because of the realization that we dont have any control on it and we are helpless.
The innocent interactions amongst infants, children, youngsters, and even aging population are governed by the stress of unsatisfied wants; which may be in the form of hunger, thirst, attraction, fear, hatred, dreams, romance, aspirations, ambitions and also by frustrations, escapism, revengefulness etc.
The stress per se is not unnatural and hence not avoidable. But it explodes within us subconsciously and even before we are aware of it; takes toll of our conscience, our thoughts, our feelings and our actions!
Thus due to our being less conscious (less evolved); the stress governs us and either gives us the sick happiness of exploiting, lying, cheating, insulting, humiliating; or begging, submitting, stooping, surrendering; or sick sadness of petty failures and losses.
Not only our reflex or instantaneous actions but our well planned activities also can be villainous; because of being governed by the stress, due to our low level of consciousness; irrespective of our intellectual, emotional or instinctual quotient, which could be high or low!
However; most commonly the low level of consciousness manifests in neither grossly villainous manner nor grossly heroic manner, but in petty, timid and mediocre manner. We become despondent and accept meekly; our deprivation, disease, degeneration, deterioration and even come to terms inevitable destruction. Thus stress makes us restless, disgruntled, angry, etc. but we come to terms with life by accepting our petty losses and petty gains! We get stabilized in a kind selfish and petty self contentment.
If we want to manage the stress properly and not get governed by it; and get healthy happiness and healthy sadness (being happy in the wellness; and sad in the pain of all; and realize the blossoming of one and all), then we need to do something to be more conscious and more evolved.
The natural growth and various inputs from the society in the form of personal and social interactions, art, and literature and so on; are helpful and useful; but inadequate.
For growing in consciousness i.e. realizing conscious evolutionary transformation; and managing the stress properly (i.e. governing it!); we need to practice NAMSMARAN i.e. JAAP, JAPA, JIKRA etc, which connects us with the cosmic consciusness; whether or not we are able to follow a particular life style or deliver a social service; preached or insisted.
