Nature has bestowed on women the special gift of Pregnancy and Motherhood. Every woman dreams of becoming a mother in her lifetime. Times were different a few decades ago when a couple used to have minimum of half a dozen kids and go up to a dozen easily. But today the number of babies that she gives birth to is perhaps one or two at the most. Women's body is built to nurture, support, grow and deliver another life. Thus women can be called life givers.

Women's body has been built suitably to support the growth of fetus for nine months within her body. The mother passes on the required nourishment through the umbilical cord to the fetus.During the process of pregnancy and child birth, the woman's body undergoes a lot of physical as well as hormonal changes. While some of the changes may be purely temporary only during the pregnancy, many changes are permanent. The Mother's body enlarges in the abdomen, uterus as well as hips area to accommodate the growing baby. The hips, pelvic muscles as well as the uterus expand sufficiently to allow the child to pass through the canal and come out. After the birth however all of the parts including hips, abdomen and uterus begin to shrink back and with exercises and diet they can get back to their normal size. However there many more changes that remain the same and do not revert to their original composition.

What concerns women post childbirth is their stomach, waist and the stretch marks on their stomach.With the expansion and stretching of the skin during pregnancy, the skin gets scarred and causes the tearing of the dermis. After the childbirth when the skin begins to contract along with all the body parts, the stretch marks appear normally on the stomach, thighs as well as hips.

Though over a period of time these stretch marks might get lighter, but may not disappear totally. It is due to these marks that women feel conscious while wearing either swim suits or shorts where in their stomach and thighs get exposed and the marks are visible. Medically speaking stretch marks do not hamper the health of the body at all. However the stretch marks could hamper the careers where women are involved in modeling , acting etc.

Women are now days very conscious of getting back to their former looks and body immediately after childbirth. Along with nursing the new born baby, they do not loose time in hitting gym to work out. When they resume office duty a few months down the line, one can hardly tell and would need to look closely at the cheek for a little bit of fat that's all.

This area has been the favorite of researchers across many organizations that have produced beauty aids and creams that remove stretch marks. If you walk into a super market cosmetics sections, you will find several creams with Vitamin E that are used during pregnancy as well as post pregnancy to help reduce the stretch marks. It may not be possible for the stretch marks to be eliminated totally. But for women who's career is dependant upon their body appeal this might not serve their purpose. Today several laser treatments are available that help remove the stretch marks permanently. These treatments too are proven and completely safe procedures practiced by trained professionals.

These problems need not bother women today because plenty of solutions are available. This is the time for them to go ahead and enjoy their motherhood.
