Student Life In College: How To Develop Your Study Habits

College life is not so easy as it may seem at first glance

. High school graduates may be deluded by popular movies about student life that present it as a constant flow of parties, alcohol, and uncontrolled fun. In fact, it is a kind of romantic vision of student life. Those students who choose the road of uncontrolled fun risk being expelled from a college. Is this possibility permissible for you? Certainly, it is not. It is a bad idea to waste your parents money, your time and many other things if you are expelled. This is why, when you are accepted to a college, establish the main rule of college life: to combine your studies and fun. To achieve this, you should develop your study habits from the outset.

How to develop study habits

Learn more about your biorhythm, find the time when you think your studies will be the most effective and use it. There is no use falling asleep over your text books at midnight if you can do the task early in the morning. Also, there is no use ungluing your eyes at 6 a.m., if your brain refuses to work at such an early hour.

Make your studying hours sacred and let your friends know about that. Explain that you do not want anybody to bother you during several hours when you study. Do not be afraid that they will mock at your attitude to studies; on the contrary, you may even set a good example for them.

Find a suitable place where you can study. It can hardly be a dorm you live in as they are rather noisy unless you live on a quiet floor. Search for a place that will be relatively quiet. It can be a classroom, a college library, or even a car.

Find some time to relax as it is impossible to study several hours without a break, it can be harmful for your health. Remember that your eyes and brain need some breaks, so develop a habit of resting several minutes every hour of studies.
