Student Response Systems Mimic Family Life
Allowing the classroom to feel more like home for a pupil is not always a good thing
but student response systems can provide a positive benefit for any pupil. After all, if a pupil is comfortable with using remote controls or console controllers at home, it stands to reason that if they are asked to use a similar device in the classroom, they shouldnt have any issue in using them confidently. All of this means that a pupil can feel more relaxed in class and although there will be a difference to the way they feel when compared to how they feel at home, it will be an improvement.
The use of student response systems has definitely been introduced to help children achieve more in the classroom. There are many bonuses and benefits to teachers from using this style of technology but it has to be said that pupils are able to benefit as well. With every answer going directly to the database containing all the answers, pupils no longer have to worry about their friends finding out their answers or knowing what they think about certain things. School can be a highly embarrassing time for people and interacting with other pupils is a difficult task for a lot of people. Taking some of the embarrassment factor out of the learning process is likely to make life more relaxed for a school pupil, which has to be considered a great thing.
The range of student response systems means that no matter the age group of the pupil, there will be something for them to use and feel comfortable with. It stands to reason that younger children should be given less complicated controls, perhaps using colours to differentiate between the buttons but as children progress through the educational process, the student response systems can grow with them. The remote controls or sensors can have more information on them or in some cases and classes; laptops or net books can be used for pupils to provide answers and interaction.
Being able to progress a child through the educational system is a challenge but it is one that is definitely enhanced by the use of student response systems. Taking natural progressive steps with regards to technology will ensure that pupils develop confidence in new methods as they continue to grow, hopefully providing them with further confidence and comfort throughout the learning process, which can also help them outside of school.
