What is it that ties most college students together these days
? Is it a fascination with the same music, or a similar political sentiment as was the case in the 1960s? More than anything, today's generation of young students can be defined by their constant and unchanging use of the World Wide Web. For the sake of personal related activities like social networking, or even in the case of research related investigations, students from all wakes of life depend on the web in order to live their lives. Not withstanding, the use of wireless Internet has become of primary importance for this part of society.
In Chicago, as with many other large cities throughout the States, many universities can be found throughout the urban landscape. For the students who attend these universities, from the Art Institute of Chicago, to Northwestern, getting online fast and conveniently is part of the curriculum. Because the urban landscape presents certain logistical complications when it comes to equipping the campus' with wifi, many students have decided to take it upon themselves in subscribing to networks that include 4G services. In turn, this has enabled student to take their tools with them wherever they go. With the increase in smart phone use, the ability to utilize the mobile air card in order to access wireless networks has certainly reached the student populations.
In essence, the increase in student interest in mobile broadband is having a ripple effect on the rest of society. Many people are well aware that trends tend to start with young and informed parts of society. In the case of student populations, these are potentially the most well informed, hippest and most willing to take on new habits in the modern age. As other age groups begin to take notice of how will these tech-related habits are serving the student population, they too are jumping on board and signing up.
Few generations have been as ready to accept change as the so-called millenials. This group of people, mostly students and young adults ranging from eighteen to thirty, has adopted technology reliant habits like no generation before them. In a sense, the natural tendency that these people feel when it comes to communicating in digital form has allowed them the fluid transitions that make for the beginning of a new trend. In Chicago and other large cities throughout America, wireless has been the way to the future, permitting people to maintain constant communication with one another while still upholding their mobile lifestyle. The quickness of new services has also allowed them to experiment with new media like streaming video and web casts. As these new forms of media become the defining media of the future, having a substantial portion of society that knows how to use them and how best to manipulate them is in everyone's interest. More than just a shared interest, these new technologies represent a phenomenon that is changing the face of modern communication.
