What are A-levels?

Younger students wishing to attend UK universities can do so by getting the proper entry qualifications such as A-levels.

A-Levels are two-year courses taken after finishing GCSEs (General Certificate of Secondary Education) and right before university. UK universities use A- levels a standard to assess the suitability of the applicants for the academic course they have chosen to study.

Students have a wide choice of courses to choose to study for their A-levels depending on what the wish to study at a UK university and their career choice, Abilities and interests. Students usually opt to study 4 subjects on their first year of A-Levels (also called AS-Level) and drop down to three subjects in their second year (called A2-Level). Three is usually the minimum number of A-Levels required by UK universities for entrance but some UK universities will require four A- Levels.

Some of the more popular A-Level subjects include: Accounting, Art and Design, Business, Biology, Economics, History, Law, Languages, Mathematics, Physics, etc.
