Study Says Most Of The Users Ready To Pay For Legal Download

The continuous claims made by the corporate entertainment industry were thwarted by two separate studies from Australia and Holland

. The claims that file sharers are unprincipled thieves ready to rob the movie and music studios has been dismissed by the survey, which clearly says 'Most people who illegally download movies, music and TV shows would pay for them if there was a cheap and legal service as convenient as file-sharing tools like BitTorrent.

Thats the finding of the most comprehensive look yet at people who illegally download TV shows, movies and music in Australia, conducted by news.com.au and market research firm CoreData.

The survey reflected the views of more than 7000 people who admitted to have a habit of streaming or downloading media from illegitimate and unauthorized sources in the past 12 months and even more. This study was conducted by academics of Leyden University and the University of Amsterdam. The report again shows that people who download contents are in general more likely to buy films, games and music if given at an optimized rate.

The publishers who use to share freeware, demos or free applications or utilities, have never felt the heat. It is now all the more relevant for them also. Now they will be happier to claim that they never molded the users attitude, habit and culture of getting things for free. Though there are excellent opportunities for legal download service providers also, they can easily pay the price for the download right , putting minimum burden on the downloader as there will be bulk buying if the price is reasonable.

David Crafti, president of the Pirate Party Australia political group, said the survey results showed illegal downloaders were in fact frustrated consumers."People aren't just looking for a free ride. They're living in the modern world and expecting business models to keep up with them," he said.
