Within it is a 300 MHz processor that allows for a monthly volume of 30000 pages at most. It comes with a standard 64 MB memory which can be expanded to a maximum of 256 MB. Such is made possible by the available 2 100-pin SDRAM DIMM fitted onto the machine.

For black and white printing, a maximum of 16 pages each minute can be churned out. While that's 4 pages every minute for colored printing. Get with the task of the day right away because it takes only 16 seconds for the first page to be out for black and white tasks, or that's 29 seconds for colored tasks. There's a combined input handling capacity of 875 sheets, making this unit ideal for providing the usual document printing chores of an office.

The 2500 comes with a total of 3 input paper trays that can handle an assortment of media sizes. The first tray can take on sizes ranging from 3" x 5" to a maximum of 8.5" x 14". The second tray supports those with sizes from 5.8" x 8.3" up to 8.5" x 14". On the other hand, the third tray is compatible with a size of 8.5" x 14". Media types supported are also extensive, including plain, bond, recycled, rough, labels, envelopes and card stocks.

Ensuring details that are crisp and colors that are true-to-life is a print resolution of 600 dpi x 600 dpi (dots per inch). Aside from that, there is also HP's very own Image REt 2400, or Image Resolution Enhancement technology. This innovation precisely blends the available colors in the HP printer toner cartridges (magenta, yellow, cyan and black) in order to come up with dazzling colors. Likewise, it yields excellent results without causing the unit to slow down.

Hooking up the 2500 to a computer is hassle-free, thanks to the available connectivity options. There's a USB 1.1 port and the parallel IEEE 1284-B port for such task. However, there's a disadvantage: the two cannot be used at the same time. An available input/output EIO slot can be used for installing JetDirect technology (sold separately). This technology enables you to directly attach the unit to a network. Additionally, a manual duplex printing is present, complete with drive support.

Standard languages included are PostScript 3, HP PCL 5c and HP PCL 6 emulation. Integrated typefaces are 45 TrueType fonts, 35 PostScript fonts and 1 Line Printer font. There are also TrueType and Intellifont scaling technologies included. The machine is fairly easy to operate; a single door fitted onto the printer is all it takes to have access to 5 printing supplies within that are simple to use.
