Style it right: How to pick the right apparel
Buying the right kind of apparel is of equal importance to both males and females, since clothes are among the most vital essentials of one's lifestyle. They portray an image of every individual, and many may lose out on personal and professional opportunities due to not being dressed appropriately for the occasion. Hence, it is very important to buy the right kind of apparel.
In a country like India, people are excessively obsessed about brands, and a significant portion of the population believes that the more expensive a piece of clothing is, the higher is its quality, and consequently, the more is its durability. Also, there are many others who think that cheap clothes are the best bet, since one can just change them after every couple of years. None of these theories are correct. Taking the case of the former, there are many designer brands that use the same quality of fabric used by other decent brands who offer products at less than half the price. Coming to those buyers who think that going for lower priced clothing is better, it is a known fact that brands who sell cheap products compromise quite heavily on the quality part, and not only would that mean that the clothes would have a much shorter life than a couple of years, they also might have defects like the tendency to cause irritation to the skin, run colours that damage other clothes being washed along with them, etc. Hence, it's best to stick to a decent brand that is neither too pricey, so that it might rob one of his/her hard earned money, nor too focussed on the low price quotient that it compromises on quality.
Coming to the next point, the style. Many people have the tendency of blindly following the latest fashion trend, in the vain attempt to look 'with the times' and cool. However, the problem in this seemingly utopian approach to apparel selection is that there are many styles that do not suit a person due to his/her body type. For instance, low waist jeans look really attractive on people who are slim and tall, but for someone who is short and on the healthier side of the weighing scale, they are nothing short of a fashion disaster. In such a situation, not only would the person waste his/her money on things that don't suit him/her, but would also give a very negative impression to everybody around him/her.
Lastly, the kind of colours and patterns being chosen are also depending on one's skin tone and body type. For instance, if one is having a fair complexion, almost all kinds of colours except pastels would look stunning. On the other hand, if one has a dark complexion, it's best to stick to light colours. Pastels look the best on people with a wheatish complexion. Coming to patterns, checks suit people with a slim to medium built, while those with a more healthy build should go for stripes, as it would make them appear slimmer.
