If you want to be successful in the rap game all you have to do is follow the leader, thats it! Now this may sound easy but its not. What you dont see is what makes this a little difficult.
What most people are not telling you is that the leader has a very well oiled company behind him and it never stops all it does is change the face of the artist. The company goes year round 24/7 and you may not even notice it.
The machine is that well placed marketing and advertising division of the big record label that makes things run effectively. These are the workers who make and break records in the industry. With the creation of the internet music has changed and the independent artist has the chance to promote himself to the world with no money being spent.
Of course YouTube.com allows you this opportunity but you have to have some sort of system to go from video to sales. Now, if you follow what the leaders in the rap game are doing even on a small scale you will be able to make some sales.
This doesnt mean selling out the back of your trunk like in 96 or selling your CD on the subway in any major city around the country, no thats not what I am talking about. What I mean is developing your system like the majors. Understand how much money you have to work with and what technology will allow you to do for free to promote your product.
Its your job to outline how to get your name hot all over the internet and then turn that hotness into sales. This is not that difficult but it will take some work. All you have to do is watch the search engines and see what is hot this week and figure out how they got there. Then you make it your business to do the exact same thing but in your specific niche market.
If you only do ten percent of what the top searches are doing then you will make sales from your product. So make sure you take the time to recognize the marketing machine that running in each record label. Study their moves, then you copy and execute. That makes more money for you!
