The plants we use these days in our gardens are so exciting

The way we grow these plants has changed, you of course can still raise your own plants from garden seeds, but summer bedding is available as spring plug plants, these plants are grown in individual cells and measure approximately 48cm in height from the root of the plant to the tip of the stem, this will vary depending where you purchase from.
Spring garden ready plants are slightly larger at 6-10cm tall and should be grown on indoors until all risk of frost has passed, but some gardeners go for ready plants at a height of approximately 7-12cm high and plant straight out into the garden or use as container plants.
The weather plays a huge part in how garden plants bloom, and over the past couple of weeks the UK has seen a mini heat wave; this of course will force plants to push towards the sun. This time of the year everything starts to move to produce beautiful blooms, and it is also a busy time to make sure weeds are kept at bay; they grow just as fast as your garden plants.

It can be very satisfying, but today many gardeners will go to garden centres and nurseries and buy the trays of plants to simply plant straight out in the garden.
