, the city and county of Denver offers fun musical entertainment on summer holidays. Free summer musical entertainment in Denver starts out with the Five Points Jazz Festival. This yearly music event in the historic neighborhood of Five Points has been a core of African-American community. This music festival highlights some of Denvers premier jazz artists and bands, who celebrate this heritage of music while performing different jazz styles.
For the rock genre, Memorial Days musical highlight is the Denver Day of Rock. Suburbian Denver will be rocking it out all day with twenty bands screech their guitars and drums out on four stages at this summer rock music extravaganza. Listen to some of Denvers favorite bands and discover some new ones, such as Fishbone, Romantics, and The Fixx. The Denver Day of Rock is presented by the Concerts for Kids and aims to raise awareness of local children and aid child-assistance groups.
On Sunday nights of June to August, City Park Bandstand and Pavilion hosts al fresco jazz club. The City Park Jazz will perform the Latin sounds of Manuel Lopez Trio to the soulful melodies of the blues and jazz siren Hazel Miller to the big band sound of Tuxedo Junction.
