, well, not so much fun. Sticky heat, whining children, bathroom breaks, carsickness, lack of legroom, bad musicall of these things can make a road trip a chore instead of a journey!

At CAA Niagara, we know exactly what you need in order to make your summer road trip a great one. To save you from hours of misery and one giant headache, weve come up with our very own summer road trip survival guide. Be sure to check that youve got everything before you embark on any long rides this summer!

Take your car in to be serviced: Before you leave for your trip, you should have your oil changed, brakes checked, fluids filled, and tires inflated. Trust usyou do not want to run into car troubles halfway through your trip in the middle of nowhere.

Make a playlist: There is nothing worse than a radio hog! If you dont have a vehicle with TV screens and separate headphones for every seat, its a good idea to agree upon a playlist with all of your passengers prior to your trip.

Plan your pit stops: Before you start driving, pick a few pit stop destinations and stick to them! That way, you can avoid arguments and stay on schedule.

Bring food: Be sure to bring a cooler with some snacks and drinks for the drive. This can also help you stick to your pit stop schedule.

Pack light: Spending hours upon hours in a squished car is not fun. To create as much room as possible, pack lightly.

Bring an emergency kit: Your emergency kit is one thing you cant cheap out on. Make sure you have all the essentials, like Band-Aids, blankets, and flares. You never know when youll need them!

Buy a GPS: A GPS is worth splurging for. Getting lost is always frustrating. A GPS can make sure you get where you need to be. If you dont want to spend the cash and youre travelling with friends, we suggest splitting the cost.
