Black tea compress is also a simple and effective remedy for treating sunburn. Black tea has antibacterial properties so that it helps to protect the skin from harmful bacteria. Two cups of black tea should be brewed using tea bags or loose leaf tea. A clean and well sterilized cloth or cotton gauze should be immersed in it and when cooled should be applied on the sunburn spot for about 20 minutes.

Vinegar is another very effective way to sooth and relieve the painful affects of a sunburn. However it does not dry as quickly as rubbing alcohol, so there are a couple of different applications. You can dab vinegar onto the skin, but this may take a while to get all of the effected area.
