Technology has evolved and changed the lifestyle but under the surface of all technological advancement lies certain common principles in existence with nature, take for example Newton 3 laws of motion. I defined these principles as naturalistic principles, which is a set of principles that are inherent in nature and therefore is applicable timelessly. Newton did not create the law, he mereby observe, test and document it for classical mechanics.
Law of nature is also frequently referred to the use of reason to analyze human nature and deduce binding rules of moral behavior. In a similar context, Sun Tzu focuses on deriving the principles behind strategy with relevance to natural phenomenon.
The Art of War is a Chinese military treatise that was written by Sun Tzu in the 6th century BC, during the spring and autumn period. . It is one of the oldest and most successful books on military strategy. It has had an influence on Eastern military thinking, business tactics, and beyond. Sun Tzu suggested the importance of positioning in strategy and that position is affected both by objective conditions in the physical environment and the subjective opinions of competitive actors in that environment. He thought that strategy was not planning in the sense of working through an established list, but rather that it requires quick and appropriate responses to changing conditions.
In modern strategy books, strategy is often written as a process of developing strategy. Planning works in a controlled environment, but in a changing environment, competing plans collide, creating unexpected situations. This is easily digestible as human are more comfortable and familiar with linear thinking. Written in an age of chaos, art of war principles is written in relativity context through the use of strategic principles. Art of War strategies should be situational in nature with consideration of current and possible responces involved.
Strategy is define as a plan of action designed to achieve a particular goal, In game theory, a player's strategy in a game is a complete plan of action for whatever situation might arise; this fully determines the player's behavior.
Traditional management style is hierarchical. Management used planning, budgeting, organization, and problem solving skills. Whilst these skills are essential, it's the new school of leadership which leverage on the vision, strategy, communications of the leaders that will serve the needs of leading organization.
Different leaders adopt and embrace different school of thoughts; hence the world is flux of strategies. Art of war touches on the principle underlying the dymanic of interactions between strategies.Strategy is reflexive in nature, hence art of war is principle based applied for formulating situational strategy. In short, sun tzu art of war stresses on strategy that adapt to changes in situations across time according to individual goal.
