Sunder bans National Park is the homeland of the Royal Bengal Tiger. This is also largest Tiger Reserve in India. It has about 400 tigers. These tigers are well acclimatized to the saline waters and are great swimmers. To give them accompany there are a number of Chital Dear and Rhesus Monkey too. In the water there are plenty of fishes, red Fiddler Crabs and Hermit Crabs.

This National Park stretches from West Bengal in India to the neighboring Bangladesh. It's located on the world's largest delta formed by Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghan. This region receives very heavy rainfall therefore its very green and swampy. It's very humid most part of the year which makes it the ideal location for mangrove cultivation. Sunderbans has countless mangrove trees and its said to be the biggest mangrove forest in the world. Nestled in between these trees are a large of species of birds, wild animals, reptiles and deers. UNESCO has been very impressed with the large scale variety of flora and fauna found in this belt that it has designated this mangrove ecosystem as World Heritage Site.

The airport closest to Sunderbans is Kolkata and railway station is Canning. The visitors would have to motor launch to Sajankheli to go around the park. There are special packages designed for the avid nature lovers, just for weekend getaways, Tiger trails so on. These Sunderbans tour packages arrange for the cruise by boat through the dense forest, halt at the view points such as Pakhiralya, Sudhanyakhali Watch Tower, Netidhopani Watch Tower. The national park remains open most part of the year (September to March). But the best time to visit is December to February as this the time when maximum migratory birds flock these forests. In the months of April and May watch out for the red Genwa leaves and crab like red flowers of Kankara.
