This unit works great. We had run the battery down on our motor home that starts the generator. We hooked up the Sunforce 50022 and let it charge for three hours. We were then able to start the gererator. Life is good.

Excellent solution.

I purchased the Sunforce 50022 5-Watt Solar Battery Trickle Charger for my 17', 3-seater canoe and am using with a MinnKota trolling motor and Power Center (also purchased from Amazon). I have used for only a few weeks now but the combination appears to be working well; the Trickle Charger is able to replenish the battery over the few days between use of the trolling motor (I estimate a couple of days charging for a couple of hours use). I have also connected a 12-volt bilge pump to the accessory port of the Power Center. With this arrangement I am able to leave the canoe moored in the lake (next to our home) using the bilge pump to remove any accumulated rainwater and the Solar Trickle Charger keeps the battery charged so that the canoe is ready to go at any time. Before this, I would have to lug the battery off to be charged prior to taking the canoe out and also have to pull the canoe out of the lake and invert it so that it did not fill up with rainwater. This is an excellent solution to my requirement. My only complaint is that the product description mentions that there is "an ultra-bright blue LED charging indicator" which I do not see on my product. This is not a big problem as the MinnKota Power Center has a charge level indicator which gives me a level of confidence that the battery is sufficiently charged for use.

Very happy with performance, but one complaint

The unit was installed atop an RV to maintain the two (115 Amp-Hrs each) House Batteries while the vehicle is in storage. The batteries are connected in parallel, and the 5-watt unit has been doing an excellent job of maintaining the batteries at 13.32 volts. I am astonished that the manufacturer chose the BLACK color for the plastic frame. A quick test by placing the unit in the Arizona sun (in early April!) showed that the black plastic frame quickly got too hot to be touched. I carefully masked the solar array area and spray painted the frame with white Kilz spray paint. What a difference! The frame stays cool to the touch and the unit has been mounted on the roof of the RV ever since, performing flawlessly.
