Supplements For Mma
Just like any other type of elite athlete, the MMA fighter subjects his body to extreme conditions
, positions, and stress. In addition to skills training, a fighter must also have an excellent martial arts fitness training routine. Both these types of training take a toll, and a fighter must fully replenish his body in order to stay healthy. Most people can get away with simply eating a healthy and balanced diet, but not the fighter. A fighter must take supplements to stay healthy because what is contained in a normal healthy diet is simply not enough.
Martial arts fitness training takes a heavy toll on the joints. If prolonged damage occurs, performance can be severely hindered, and surgery may even be necessary. As the old saying goes, prevention is the best medicine! Glucosamine is a supplement that helps prevent cartilage decay and can also help increase flexibility. Joint Juice is a drink that mixes glucosamine with vitamin C; I highly recommend it.
The bodys muscles have to deal with a constant barrage as it deals with rapid movements and heavy lifts, so take care of them! Glutamine is a well known, naturally occurring supplement that assists the muscles with recovery. While it can be purchased individually as a pill, it is commonly included in protein shake mixes because of it complements the protein mix. It can also be found in common foods, like chicken, fish, dairy, wheat, beans, and spinach. This supplement is critical because it can help prevent overtraining, and ultimately injury.
Creatine is a supplement that can greatly help with the strength aspect of martial arts fitness training. Creatine works by supplying extra energy to muscles, which in turn allows a weight lifter to perform more or heavier repetitions. It also allows a muscle to store more water inside, which it give it a fuller look, as well as aid in protein synthesis. It is not a steroid or banned by any athletic commissions, and should be taken by every serious athlete.
Whey protein is a commonly used substance that nearly every athlete uses. When the body is stressed, it breaks down the lean muscle tissue for energy. If the energy is not replenished, youll lose muscle mass! Whey protein is taken after workouts and releases protein into the body so that the muscles can be nourished and replenished. Whey protein is often taken in the form of a protein shake. A whey protein shake gives the opportunity to add creatine and glutamine, which makes the drink much more convenient than taking all the supplements separately.
A final word to the wise: Taking supplements will never replace a healthy diet. It is, after all, only a supplement to a good diet. If you are an aspiring MMA fighter, you wont go anywhere by eating McDonalds and then taking your creatine and protein shake later. Remember, diet and exercise first, and supplements second. Happy training!
