I'm going to let you in on the number one secret to maintain good health. There is one area that controls the rest of your body. And that is your guts! I am talking having a healthy and happy digestive system. Obviously it matters what you type of foods you are putting but that will not count for anything if your digestive system is not absorbing it correctly!
A correctly functioning digestive tract is the holy grail of health achievements and if you can get this right then many other areas will just fall into place. I will be coming back to this topic over and over again until you and your stomach are best of friends. But as you are probably guessing we are going to start small. The next step sounds easy but can be harder than you think.
DO NOT DRINK ANYTHING WHILE YOU EAT OR FOR 15 MINUTES AFTERWARDS.
Think of your stomach as a furnace. When you put wood into a furnace you need the fire to be as hot as possible to assist with incinerating the materials put in. If you have the heat too low then then it is going to take longer for things to burn.
In the case of your stomach the less digestion that occurs in the stomachthe more fermentation will take place. Each step of digesting your food is equally important and if one fails then the rest will suffer. This can mean partially digested food will continue throughout your entire system leaving the whole point of eating a waste of time.
Also before you think "well maybe I could lose weight this way" stop and listen to this. If you are not getting proper nutrition from your diet then your body will start to store fats to prepare it for hard times ahead. And if you are anything like me it will go straight to your butt!
So when it comes to meal time try to abstain from any liquids while you are eating and also for 15 minutes afterwards. This will allow your food to be digested properly.
