Surefire Way To Increase Your Email Click Through Rates
Do your email click through rates suck?
Don't worry you are not alone, many email marketers can easily increase their email open rates, as I discussed in my previous article, but still fall at the last hurdle and cannot get the links in their email body clicked.
There is actually a very simple formula to increase your click through rates and it's so simple marketers using email marketing overlook it.
Firs things first, you have to be certain that your email is formated in the correct way.
You want to ensure that your emails are no more than 50 characters, long emails stretched across the whole of a page strain the readers eyes.Keep your email body short, compact and easy on the eyes.
Next you have to decide which way to format your links is most effective.
You will of course have to do some simple split testing to discover this.
Most autoresponders allow a basic split test in which you can send the exact same email, with a few slight changes to a percentage of your list.
For example, list A receives email 1, list B receives email 2.
Email 1 would contain a standard link in the normal format of http://www.yoursitename.com.
Email 2 would have a variation link, which could be a hyper linked text link, such as "click here now".
Once you received your statistics back you can immediately see which format performed better and use that one.
Most everyday people are used to the normal format of a link, which tends to be a website address in blue text underlined and this has been proven to work well for me.
Once you know which format to provide your links, next you should assess how many links to put in one email.
Too little will reduce your click through rates.
Too many will make your email look spammy.
So an ideal amount of links in your email body is three.
This means you can add links in your email at the beginning, in the middle and at the end.
Your first link should always be above the fold, this simply means that when a subscriber opens your email, they should not have to use their mouse to scroll down the page to see the first link.
The second link should be around the middle of your email.
And the final link can be used with the ps. method, simply add a ps at the end of your email, a call to action is normally preferable for the last link and include your link.
Now that you know how to format your emails, how to split test your link formats and how to strategically place your links in your email body for a higher click through rate you are good to go!
Take the above points, transfer them into your current emails, test and tweak and your click through rates will be sure to increase drastically.
