Surf Vacations For The Experienced Surfer

Surf travel is one of my interests and I have gone on many surf excursions to amazing places

. I have gone on considerable travel beyond surf travel, but the surf excursion is definitely my preferred method to see the world. Why is this? On a surf excursion, you typically end up at some unique location. Typically this spectacular location you end up in is a place most only see in postcards of some perfect island paradise. Furthermore, surfing several hours in the early morning and afternoon leaves you lots of time for rest and to get out and see interesting places and connect with the people.

Many new surfers will take their very first surf excursion with the objective of learning how to surf by finding a surf camp. A straightforward search online will show countless surfing camps around the world. There are numerous surfing camps in areas like Central America, Mexico, and Europe that specialize in instructing people how to surf. These surfing camps tend to be a week long and they are filled with experienced surf instructors. When you leave, you will be catching waves by yourself. Not a bad means of spending a vacation. I lived in Maui, Hawaii and think it is an incredible destination during the summer time months with its many southerly facing waves in addition to Honolua Bay in the winter. Any of the South American destinations also get fantastic summer time surf and if you speak the Spanish language, it is easy to connect with people and learn about the cultures. Should you not speak Spanish, it can be a great way to educate yourself on the language. Take a couple of Spanish lessons in the afternoons between surf sessions. Of course, destinations in Indonesia like the Telos or Mentawai islands offer the spectacular surf excursion and waves that are incredible for the accomplished surfer. In winter months, the well-known and best location to visit is the North Shore of Oahu with large, superb surf and an excellent surf tradition.

I try to leave the US for surf travel no less than a couple of times annually on a surf excursion. It is always great to discover new places and encounter new countries. It is additionally wonderful to return to the best surf breaks outside of California.
