Surprise Your Mum (and Yourself) This Mothers Day With A Ride On A Motorcycle

Whilst your Mum may appear to be a calm and caring woman who settled down several

years ago to start a family, underneath that pleasant exterior is a woman who is desperate to throw on a suit of leathers, jump on the back of a motorcycle and head out on the open road.

Or at least that is what recent research suggests.

Most Mums will have had a relatively rebellious or outgoing period in their earlier life and one or two may have even ventured onto the back of a motorcycle occasionally. However, the Tiger website has carried out some research into what exactly Mums are looking for in terms of gifts this Mothers Day and to the surprise of many, riding on a motorcycle beat the more traditional options of chocolates and flowers for 12 percent of those Mums who took part in the survey.

Whilst this figure is surprising enough to many sons and daughters in itself, the research suggests further that Mums are in fact relatively conservative in their desperation to be a passenger on a motorcycle (even though they are twice as likely to have the urge to do so than their sons) and it is in fact their Mums who have a higher passion to throw on a pair of leather jackets and let the wind rush through their hair on a motorcycle.

According to the research, over 33 percent of Grandmothers who participated in the survey stated that they would much rather prefer to be a passenger on a motorcycle this Mothers Day than receive a bouquet of flowers or a tray of chocolates. It has to be known, however, that the motorcycle cannot be any two wheel machine with an engine, but it has to specifically be a Harley Davidson.

Before you rush out to your local dealership to see what offers are available on motorcycles, it is worthwhile first checking out the cost of motorcycle insurance, as although there will be a policy available to suit everyone, it can increase or decrease significantly depending upon the individual and their own circumstances, including their location, personal details and health.

For example, a particularly regular aspect that many people forget when looking at motorcycle insurance policies for others is whether the potentially policy holder has any problems with their sight that would cause the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) to prohibit that person from driving. This can be of a particular problem if they have not drove a car or rode a motorcycle in years and their eyesight has deteriorated over that time, but has not been a problem due to the lack of driving or riding.

Now of course, assuming everything is OK health wise and there are no other reasons why your Mother (or even Grandmother, remember) cannot take out a motorcycle insurance policy, it may be time to cancel that bouquet of flowers and return those chocolates and look for something a little more suited to their now public thrill seeking needs.
