Surviving the club scene in Cancun isn't hard

, there is no magic formula. In fact, given the same situation at home, you would most likely fall into your regular routine of hydration and hibernation. The difference here is that you are in a tropical location, a foreign country, and on vacation! Those three factors change everything. The best thing to do right now is sit down, read on, and make a note of everything we recommend. Put the notes in your smartphone, write them down in your travel journal, or write them on a note pad that you pack in your luggage. Do something to remind you of these precious tips for surviving the party scene in Cancun!

The topic of alcohol is a good place to start. Knowing your tolerance level is a wise idea. The tropical environment will mean that you will feel the effects of your alcohol consumption more quickly, than if you were in a more temperate climate. The alcohol will hit your bloodstream more quickly, because the tropical heat causes your body to become dehydrated faster. If you take your typical 'at home' level of alcohol consumption and halve it, it will be to your benefit - that will be your limit. If at all possible don't get intoxicated. Remember, you are in a foreign place with people you have never met before, and where the familiar is not there to fall back on. It's smart to pay attention to what's happening while you are out enjoying yourself, so that you can have a nice time with less possibility of negative things happening.

Still on the topic of alcohol, do not mix tequila with other types of alcohol, and limit your tequila shots to one or two. Far too many Cancun partiers have ended up in intensive care with severe alcohol poisoning due to tequila. It's smart to stick to bottled drinks that are opened in front of you, so that you can be assured that what you drink hasn't been messed with. Sadly, there are predators in every part of the world who may try to slip a drug in an open drink. Safeguard yourself, order bottled beer. Drink a bottle of water for every alcoholic drink you consume. Sure, it may mean a lot of trips to the washroom, but better that than a killer hangover!
