TAKE CARE OF YOUR ACOUSTIC GUITAR
An acoustic guitar is a hollow, and has a "sound hole" that is a round hole in the face of the guitar. It has six strings and when you strike the strings of an acoustic guitar, the instrument produces a rather loud sound. Although these guitars are associated with folk music and "mellow" music in general, they are in truth in all styles of music, from country to blues to heavy metal.
An acoustic guitar is a guitar that uses acoustic methods to project the sound produced by its strings. The body of these guitars has a "waist," or a narrowing. This narrowing makes it easy to rest the guitar on your knee. The two widening referred as bouts. The upper bout is where the neck connects, and at lower bout the bridge attaches. The size and shape of the body and the bouts has a lot to do with the tone that a guitar produces. The two bouts also affect the sound like if you drop a pick into the body of a guitar and rattle it back and forth in the lower bout and then the upper bout, you will be able to hear a difference. The lower bout accentuates lower tones while upper bout accentuates higher tones.
The face of the neck, containing the frets, is termed as fingerboard. The frets are metal pieces cut into the fingerboard at specific intervals and by pressing a string down onto a fret, one can change the length of the string and therefore the tone produces when it vibrates. Between the neck and the head is a piece called the nut, which is grooved to accept the strings and from a musical standpoint, the saddle and the nut act as the two ends of the string. The distance between these two points is known as the scale length of the guitar.
Acoustic guitar is made of wood; therefore it is sensitive to temperature and humidity. As humidity increase, moisture content of wood also increases which causes it to expand and swell. A gradual increase in humidity won't do permanent damage to guitars but on high temperature and humidity leads to weaken the bridge under the glue. You have to guard the guitar against the rapid changes in weather. This instrument is coated in highest grade finish available and is sensitive, so the best way to clean is by using damp cloth which removes harmful chemicals. Any type of solvent, especially those found in plastic, vinyl and leather straps, will mar the finish, as will alcohol, citric acid, insect repellent aftershave lotion, and a number of related substances. Perspiration can also damage your guitar so keep it dry as possible. Your guitar is assembled with glues that can be affected by heat causing loosening and breakdown of glue adhesion. The strings don't last forever; it becomes corrode and dirty with the human moisture. At this point, the entire set should have to replace.
