A counsellor or a therapist has to be patient along with being a great listener
. He must have the ability to coax the truth out of each partner in a very non accusing way. The person is already in a mess. The last thing he wants is the feeling that he is being accused. Each partner must be given time. Each has to be dealt with individually first and then together so that each gets to listen to the other's point of view. Zeroing in on the problem along with the reasons behind it and then explaining them clearly to each partner is the counsellor's job. If the partners start understanding these contributing factors and the main problem, the work is done. They can get together and work on the problem; may be make a compromise or two and rekindle hopes of making the marriage work. This is exactly what Fredrick Counselling does.
