Tae Kwon Do - Combat Art Of Soul And Body
Think about martial arts and whole China and Chinese comes into imagination
. It is not our fault because martial arts are mostly associated with Asia and south East Asia and Chinese represents Asians in a dominant manner. But the truth is martial arts is endless and has several forms, styles and types and above all different origins. Like many other taekwondo has also got an Asian origin but it belongs to Korea. Unlike kung fu the famous Chinese martial arts which is very old and has spiritual touch and also consist of fighting styles using weapons taekwondo is younger, more sporty and is a form of unarmed martial arts only.
Koreans never hesitated to teach and spread it for which it is the most popular martial art these days. The combat form has travelled a lot across the world and is now popular among all. Organizations such as WTF (World Taekwondo Federation) and ITF (International Tae-kwon-Do Federation) are the governing bodies of this martial art form and formulate and safeguard the rules and fighting styles all over the world.
Taekwondo is an Olympic sport now since 2000.The popularity is vivid as it combines combat techniques, self-defense, sport, exercise and in some cases meditation and philosophy too. Unlike judo and other forms of martial arts taekwondo is a KICK ASS sport. It is all about KICKS. It is known for its emphasis on kicking techniques, which distinguishes it from other martial arts such as karate and kung fu.
It is comprised of three distinct parts "Tae-Kwon-Do", however, it's made up of only one word in Korean. "Tae" means "foot," "to step on," or "leg"; "Kwon" means "fight," or "fist"; and "Do" means the "way" or "discipline." If we put these three parts together, we can see a couple of critical ideas behind Tae Kwon Do.
Taekwondo can be characterized by unity: the unity of body, mind, and life. When you participate in Taekwondo, you should collect your mind and synchronized all your power together to fight with the opponent. It is an attitude about life, respecting the component, avoiding misbehaving and controlling your language.
What sets Taekwondo apart from these is that it is an activity for survival in extremely life changing situations. One must always overcome the enemy that is trying to cause harm to you. But simply winning a fight is not enough to ensure one's security, because the enemy may recuperate and attempt to assault you again. Also, there can be many other enemies than the one that was just defeated. A person can't ever truly feel safe unless that person gains a continued sense of peace. To ascertain this permanent or lasting sense of peace, one needs wholeness. This is the aim of Taekwondo. Otherwise Tae kwon do would be no different from any other street-fighting skills.
