Tahiti is a tropical island paradise that sits like a gem in the middle of the Pacific Ocean

. It's this location that makes it home to beautiful landscapes both above and under water, a very unique culture, and tons of adventures to embark on. Traveling to Tahiti is as easy as simply applying for a passport. And you can get there even quicker with expedited passport renewal.

Tahiti is the largest island in the group of islands known as French Polynesia. While French is a prominent language, many of the inhabitants also speak a native Tahitian language. Traveling to Tahiti is extremely easy with nonstop flights from California and Hawaii. Only a passport is needed to be allowed into Tahiti. If you have a lost passport, renewing it is incredibly easy to do online. No visas, vaccinations, or special certificates are required. However, you will definitely want to bring your bikini, some sunscreen, and a camera with room for lots of pictures!

The snorkeling and diving scene in Tahiti is one of the things that make it so special. Some popular diving sites are the St. Etienne Drop-Off, Tetopa Grotto, and one spot called "Papa Whisky." Shipwrecks, caves, and diverse underwater landscapes make diving in Tahiti a very special sort of experience. The black sand beaches are a signature sight of Tahiti. The main island is made up of two volcanic mountains. Nature hikes are also a great way to become acquainted with the Tahitian landscape. Misty mountain paths and whispering jungles wait to be explored.

Some activities that are uniquely Tahitian include shark feeding, living in cottages build over the water and going on a treasure hunt for the illusive Tahitian pearl. If you are a real adventure junkie, you may want to enjoy wading into four to seven feet of crystal blue water and assist a trainer feed the sharks that swim right by you. Staying in one of their over-water cottages provides a unique look at sea life both day and night. Many of these cottages have a glass floor through which colorful salt water fish can be clearly seen in the crystal clear water below. You may have heard of the beautiful Tahitian black pearls but the truth is there are pearls of various colors waiting to be found on the beautiful beaches and, of course, don't forget to visit mysterious Easter Island.

The culture in Tahiti is definitely one of the most unique in the world. One of the most special aspects of their culture is their fierce but beautiful dancing. Their otea dance is characterized by grass skirts and fast-moving hips. In fact, it closely resembles the Hawaiian hula, but the Tahitian otea is much faster and more focused on hip movement. Tahitians are also famous for their beautiful handicrafts. Handmade pieces of woodwork, weaving, and quilts make up some of the famous pieces of Tahiti.
